Bybit has announced a temporary halt to its services in India due to regulatory changes, effective January 12 at 8:00 AM UTC.
Indian users will be unable to open new trades or access platform products, including trading, account openings, and order placements.
However, users can still close existing positions in “Close-Only” mode, and fund withdrawals remain unaffected.
This move follows recent regulatory developments in India and prior restrictions. Bybit integrated India’s central bank digital currency (CBDC) in July 2024.
Bybit has faced similar challenges in other countries, including halting operations in France in August 2024 due to regulatory pressures.
In December 2024, Malaysia’s Securities Commission ordered Bybit to cease operations for running an unregistered crypto exchange.
