Ledger co-founder David Balland was rescued following a kidnapping in central France, where the captors reportedly demanded a cryptocurrency ransom.
French authorities have arrested eight suspects, with investigations ongoing.
According to Bloomberg, Balland was abducted from his home on January 21 and taken to an undisclosed location.
His wife was also reportedly kidnapped but was later rescued in the Essonne region.
The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed that Balland was freed during a police operation on January 22.
He is currently receiving emergency medical treatment, while the condition of his wife remains unknown.
